Singapore, Mon – A whopping US$329.5 billion was the total contribution of travel and tourism to GDP for South East Asia in 2017, easily making this region the Powerhouse Tourism Destination in Asia Pacific. This figure represents 12% of South East Asia’s GDP and marks a significant growth in revenue from tourism.
The direct contribution of tourism and travel was US$135.8b or 4.9% of total GDP and is forecast to rise by 5.9% in 2018 and by 5.5% per annum over the next 10 years to US$245.9b in 2028.
To ensure the region’s continued growth of tourism and travel in South East Asia, as well as to enhance its sustainability as the powerhouse of travel and tourism in the region, the Asia Pacific Tourism & Travel Federation is organising the APTTF Hospitality Tourism &Travel Business Summit 2019 to be held in six different major cities over a span of months.
The APTTF Summit kicks off in Jakarta from Feb 20-21, followed by Hanoi(March 20-21), Manila (April 20-21), Bangkok (May 15-16), Kuala Lumpur June 19-20) and ending in Hong Kong on July 17-18.
